There's so many misconceptions; there is so much pain There's so many complicated mysteries that remain One of them's the writer, who's working late at night Desperately ambitious, trying to get it right There's so many urgent issues; there's so much to say There's so many tragedies that happen every day The writer shakes his head and turns off every light And then in darkness he is trying to get it right God save the writer, God save the muse God save the singer, the joy and the blues God save the listener whatever may come God save the writer for everything he's done There's so many different notions; there is so much noise There's so many wrong solutions yearning for a voice The writer tries to shut his mind against them tight Desperately ambitious, trying to get it right God save the writer, God save the muse God save the singer, the joy and the blues God save the listener whatever may come God save the writer for everything he's done A blank page and a pen are all he needs tonight Desperately ambitious, he finally gets it right God save the writer, God save the muse God save the singer, the joy and the blues God save the listener whatever may come God save the writer for everything he's done God save the writer for everything he's done

I have travelled far and wide Seen many places, been to many sites Now I have a home to leave I have won a heart to keep I know you'll miss me I will miss you, too But if you love me you will let me go You can trust me my heart belongs to you But my wings need motion, too Back onto the road, though leaving will hurt me Out into the open where free winds will sing to me I know there are tears in my eyes of farewell Tears of joy blur my sight as I head on I can't wait to go I make you a promise I will return one day Your picture in my heart will guide me on my way After the freedom and the lands I have roamed I would bring the width and the horizon back home Back onto the road, though leaving will hurt me Out into the open where free winds will sing to me I know there are tears in my eyes of farewell Tears of joy blur my sight as I head on I can't wait to go I don't want to leave I don't want to leave

A crowded room, a red confession Whose night is it anyway? A sweet perfume, a glimpse of passion Whose night is it anyway? I heard those words before I'll say them now once more Been through this all before Just the faces change A first embrace filled with desire Whose night is it anyway? Through the haze two hearts conspire Whose night is it anyway? Don't really know what for Emotions render sore Been through this all before Just the faces change We spend the night pretending we're lovers Whose night is it anyway? A soft goodbye I reach for the covers Whose night is it anyway? The mirror by the door Reflects the clothes I wore Been through this all before Just the faces change Silence remains No number to call No meaning at all I don't even know your name Know your name

It's too late to turn back now I am on my way I know I'll make it through somehow To live another day I know my mission I know I am his son But inside my head my memory has gone It's too late to change my mind I keep it in my heart All the love I left behind Here's to my second start I know I have a name I know I'm yet unborn Despite my future fame I'll wear a crown of thorns It's too late to say goodbye I am on my way Here on this cross I'm going to die Still I wish I could stay I know I'm fading I know they'll understand But it's hard to see you cry, my friend

about

The new single of German duo Manticess provides a fresh mixture of pop, rock and folk elements. There is the infectious chorus of the title track "God Save the Writer", the longing vocals of "Bittersweet Goodbye", the affectionate melancholy of "One-Night Stand" and the Christmas-themed ballad "After I Have Gone".
