about
This song was inspired by Eric Bazilian and the Hooters. I wrote the song when the band didn't play a European tour back in 2006. It's based on a song title that had appeared online. The song turned from a homage into a Manticess song when Susanne added her vocal talents. In 2009 we set out to record the song properly. I'm very happy that Dave Uosikkinen of the Hooters played drums on this track. The recordings were mixed in the summer of 2010 and are now finally released. Enjoy!
lyrics
There's so many misconceptions; there is so much pain
There's so many complicated mysteries that remain
One of them's the writer, who's working late at night
Desperately ambitious, trying to get it right
There's so many urgent issues; there's so much to say
There's so many tragedies that happen every day
The writer shakes his head and turns off every light
And then in darkness he is trying to get it right
God save the writer, God save the muse
God save the singer, the joy and the blues
God save the listener whatever may come
God save the writer for everything he's done
There's so many different notions; there is so much noise
There's so many wrong solutions yearning for a voice
The writer tries to shut his mind against them tight
Desperately ambitious, trying to get it right
God save the writer, God save the muse
God save the singer, the joy and the blues
God save the listener whatever may come
God save the writer for everything he's done
A blank page and a pen are all he needs tonight
Desperately ambitious, he finally gets it right
God save the writer, God save the muse
God save the singer, the joy and the blues
God save the listener whatever may come
God save the writer for everything he's done
God save the writer for everything he's done
